Sip Into Southern Italy: A Wine Tasting Journey Through the Mezzogiorno
Join us this Wednesday for a tasting that celebrates the sun-drenched vineyards, volcanic soils, and ancient winemaking traditions of Southern Italy. This curated lineup features four expressive wines—from crisp whites to a volcanic rosé and a bold Sicilian red—each crafted from native grapes and rooted in place.
Here’s what we’ll be pouring:
🍇 Jasci Trebbiano d’Abruzzo (Abruzzo)
Certified organic and endlessly refreshing, this white wine offers crisp citrus, green apple, and a touch of almond. Clean and zesty, it’s the perfect way to kick off your tasting journey.
Pair with: Grilled shrimp, lemon herb chicken, vegetable risotto, or a classic antipasti platter.
🍋 Vicus Irpinia Falanghina (Campania)
Falanghina thrives in the volcanic hills of Campania. This bottling is fragrant and lively, with tropical fruit, citrus zest, and mineral tension. A beautiful expression of Southern Italy’s coastal energy.
Pair with: Spaghetti alle vongole, fried calamari, Thai green curry, or fresh cheeses.
🌋 Graci Etna Rosato (Sicily – Mount Etna DOC)
From high-elevation vineyards on the slopes of Mt. Etna, this rosé is made from Nerello Mascalese. Expect wild strawberry, blood orange, and a savory, smoky edge that speaks to its volcanic origins.
Pair with: Seared tuna, salmon crudo, couscous with herbs, or caprese salad.
🍷 Caruso & Minini Nero d’Avola (Sicily)
A bold yet polished red from one of Sicily’s signature grapes. Ripe dark berries, a touch of spice, and smooth tannins make this wine both crowd-pleasing and distinctly regional.
Pair with: Grilled lamb, eggplant parmigiana, sausage pizza, or aged pecorino.
Whether you're new to Italian wine or already in love with the southern regions, this tasting is your passport to discover the character, complexity, and charm of the Mezzogiorno—glass by glass.
