Wine On The Water ~ A Taste Of Greece!
Dear Friends,
The calendar may be inching toward fall, but we are still holding onto summer with both hands. What better way to savor these last lingering days than with a journey to Greece? With its sun-drenched vineyards, ancient winemaking traditions, and wonderfully distinctive indigenous grapes, Greece offers a world of wines that are both fascinating and incredibly food-friendly.
Join us on Wednesday, September 2nd for a Greek Wine Tasting with our friend, Damian, of Curated Wine Group. We’ll be exploring four beautiful wines from Greece, featuring some of the country’s most compelling native varieties.
Douloufakis, “Alárgo” Assyrtiko
A crisp, dry and unoaked white from the high-altitude vineyards of Crete. Dried citrus, green apple and flinty minerality come together with refreshing acidity and a slightly ripe, concentrated fruit core. Delicious with grilled fish, shellfish, or creamy pasta dishes.
Alpha Estate, “Turtles Vineyard” Malagouzia
A highly aromatic white from the cool, high-altitude vineyards of Florina. Fragrant notes of rose petals, jasmine, honeysuckle, white peach and lychee lead to a round, silky palate with a clean mineral finish. Wonderful with fresh seafood, salads and poultry.
Kir-Yianni, Naoussa Xinomavro
An elegant and savory red showcasing Greece’s distinctive Xinomavro grape. Sour cherry, strawberry and plum mingle with sun-dried tomato, olive and sweet spice, supported by refreshing acidity and fine tannins. A natural match for slow-cooked meats, tomato-based pasta, cured meats and aged cheeses.
Alexakis, Kotsifali / Syrah
A lush and spicy Cretan blend of Kotsifali and Syrah. Blackberry, cherry and blueberry are complemented by cinnamon, clove, cracked black pepper and savory notes, with velvety tannins and a rich finish. Perfect with grilled lamb, barbecue, roasted meats and boldly seasoned vegetables.
Join us as we explore the remarkable diversity of Greek wine, from crisp and aromatic whites to beautifully structured reds. With distinctive native grapes and centuries of winemaking tradition, there is so much to discover in the glass. As always, we'll have an amazing selection of charcuterie and small bites to perfectly complement the wines.
